Mary Remington’s music is at first blush singer songwriter, but with a closer listen, it could be called something more like dream folk. Her musical influences include Ray LaMontagne, Blue Sky Black Death, Peter Watson, Peter Gregson and Bon Iver. Mary’s sound and lyric writing come from a starkly honest place, exploring the sufferings and ecstasies inside the experience of love. Mary is married to a profoundly deaf husband, has a 4 year old daughter, and is an ex-pat from Brooklyn now living in Montclair, New Jersey. Mary has years of contemplative practice and meditation, and un/consciously imbues her music with stillness and simplicity. Most songs written are conceived and fully written within one night, keeping her inspirations free from over thinking. She does her lion share of studio recording with the incredibly talented and huge-hearted Butch Jones, out of Brooklyn.
