Afro-psychedelic death metal. That means combining African melodies and psychedelic Rock with a death metal delivery system. The death metal is because the core of the band Wilson on guitar (ex: Clan Elder); Martin on vocals (Lust of a Dying Breed); and Lawrence on drums and vocals (Irony Destroyed) come from 3 different Metal bands. Ra Ny’kang guitar (Breadsteppas) is a reggae musician. Mordecai on bass emerged from the Kenya Conservatoire of Music. Danny, the one with the ethereal quality vocals graduates from David Mburu's of Last Year's Tragedy, vocalist mentorship program. A coalescence from 6 musicians, all previously playing different music in different bands, the Seeds of Datura neatly merged their interests in Afro-pop, Death Metal, Doom metal and psychedelic rock, weaving each song into an immutable African mythology. The band recently released their fifth single “Unbound” on 1st February 2019. The song takes influences from baroque singing and bands like Pink Floyd, Opeth and Heretoir. The song itself is inspired by the tough times the bands members have gone through. The band's second album/EP "ALKALOIDS LIVE" has been in the works since 2018 however due to a hard drive failure and loss of a studio space recording has yet to continue.
