Piranesi comes from a wish that I've had since I got to an age when I started to understand why the place that I live in doesn't have certain things that I saw on TV when I was a little kid, stuff like: people dancing, city lights, huge parks where my dogs could run around and a somewhat feel of culture being around. The city in "Piranesi" is a fictional one, heavily inspired by the one I grew up in, where corruption was encouraged from day 1, so much that those in power stopped caring about the citizens. Among those citizens are people like me, people that crave creative expression, places to go and have fun with our friends (pubs, clubs that were closed), students that suddenly had to pay higher taxes for their tuition. All these parts of the city were severely affected by bad management, to the point the cultural scene barely exists. Therefore, "Piranesi" is about an imaginary cultural resurrection in a dead city, drained by the decisions of the oligarchy. The main character slowly realizes that the more he goes down this rabbit hole of imagination of something amazing, the more he is affected by the twisted society he lives in. Musically speaking, the drums are loud and compressed, the synthesizers go from an ambient-reverb sound to a haunted one. The guitars can get heavy and distorted but at times clean and reverby, while the vocals throw constant hits at the wall of sound.
